Homicide: Life on the street is based on the book from David Simon Homicide:  A year in the killing streets. He spent a year with the Police on the street of Baltimore. They shot the entire series on location it had a documentary feel to it it was a gritty look at life of cops in the street as real as it gets. It is a drama like no others it does not have gun fights, explosion  or car chase. The series has an unconventional editing format and unusual camera angles, very creative. It follows the life of Lt. Al Giardello (Yaphet Kotto ),  and his  squad room of homicide detectives. You should recognized some characters There is Bolander (Ned Beatty) , the edgy John Munch (Richard Belzer, Law and Order: SVU), Crosetti (John Polito), Meldrick Lewis (Clark Johnson) , Kay Howard (Melissa Leo) the only woman in Homicide. Kay Howard (Melissa Leo), Andre Braugher as Frank Pembleton, Tim Bayliss (Kyle Secor) as the rookie. You will see the conduct on the job as well as with their colleges. It is a great show you will get hooked on it in no time.
