TALES FROM THE CRYPT (1989 – 1996)

Creator:  William Gaines

Cast: John Kassir, Roy Brocksmith, Miguel Ferrer

This series comes across twilight zone and a horror movie. It is half an hour story of horror, Sci-Fi, black magic, paranormal, and twisted stories. the show always begin with the puppet called the crypt keeper.

It comes from a comic book so HBO decided to give it a try with Tales from the crypt at the time it was the best horror series on TV. It was an addictive show I will tell you that. Each episode begins with a tracking shot  to the front door of the Crypt Keeper’s creepy mansion. Once inside, the camera pans down hallways and stairways, and finally descends into the basement. The show’s host, the Crypt Keeper,  pops out from his coffin, cackling wildly; finally, green slime pours down over the screen as the main title appears. in the comic books it was a living human being hosting but in the series they changed that the crypt is an animated corpse. The smart ass  wisecrack crypt keeper voice is john Kassir.  He introduce the episode with his frequent greeting to viewers:  “Hello, Boils and Ghouls” or “Hello, Kiddies” with a creepy  voice. There were an episode called “You, Murderer” is the first shows ever filmed that used computer effects to digitally insert actors into an episode. Most if the episode were shock stories with suspense. There were a ton of guessed stars and directors. overall this was a awesome series.
